Since 1st January 2018, the numismatic team of Felzmann has been strengthened by Dr. Annika Backe-Dahmen, who will be working in Berlin as a contact person for our customers.
Dr. Backe-Dahmen (* 1974) studied Classical Archaeology, Ancient History and Art History at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg. She received her doctorate in 2004 with her thesis that translates as “Innocentissima aetas – Roman Childhood as Reflected in Literary, Legal and Archaeological Sources from the 1st to the 4th Century AD”.
During a two-year internship at the Collection of Classical Antiquities (Antikensammlung) and the Coin Cabinet (Münzkabinett) of the Berlin State Museums, she curated a special exhibition on Antinoos in sculpture and numismatics. In 2007, she was entrusted with the redesigning of the permanent exhibition at the Sculpture Collection (Skulpturensammlung) Dresden. In 2008, she began working for a numismatic press service and the numismatic online journal CoinsWeekly as an author and specialist translator. Alongside other projects, she was a research associate of the “Berlin Sculpture Network – Contextualization and Translation of Ancient Sculptures” in 2012. Dr. Annika Backe-Dahmen publishes articles in journals and both national and international conference proceedings on a regular basis.
